New Construction and Renovation of a Plant at a Chemical Manufacturing Facility

Electrification of energy consumption and high energy efficiency for the renovation of a chemical production plant

Client: AGRO-CHEMIE
Location: Budapest (industrial area) - Hungary
Building type: Industrial plant
Climate zone: Warm
System: Air-to-water heat pumps combined with fan coil terminals

The system HVAC retrofit of a chemical manufacturing facility located in the industrial area of Budapest involved replacing traditional steam systems and split systems with a new solution based on high-efficiency heat pumps, aimed at electrifying energy consumption and improving overall system efficiency.
The project covered the facility's laboratory and office building, with a complete replacement of the existing heating system.

The main requirement was to phase out the existing steam system—which was inefficient and no longer aligned with current energy standards—while ensuring operational continuity for the facility.
The new system needed to deliver high energy efficiency, reliability for continuous operation, and integration with renewable sources, such as photovoltaics, to reduce total energy consumption.

The previous steam system was upgraded with a cascade heat pump configuration structured across multiple groups (2 units, 3 units, and 2x4 units), guaranteeing continuous operation and increased energy efficiency.
The system comprises 15 monobloc outdoor Sherpa units, integrated with power supply from photovoltaic sources as well.
Office climate control is managed by 19 high-wall Bi2 Wall fan coils, ensuring efficient and continuous thermal comfort throughout the workspaces.
