A Work Of Street Art To Talk About Sustainability And Create Beauty

Visible until 31 December 2023 in Via Nino Bixio 4, it was commissioned by Olimpia Splendid and created by a student of the LABA Academy, for Bergamo and Brescia Italian Capital of Culture.

Brescia, October 2023

It is called "The Garden of the Future", the work by Letizia Olivieri - a student of the School of Decoration and Interior Design of the LABA Brescia Academy of Fine Arts - inaugurated today in Via Nino Bixio 4, in the historic centre of Brescia. A work of street art depicting a girl and a child watering flowers: small, great gestures, on which the future of this garden depends, just as the future of our Planet depends on the gestures of each of us.

"Last May we issued a challenge to the young talents of the LABA Academy: to interpret the union between Beauty and Sustainability in a work. We immediately liked Letizia's proposal, because it integrates perfectly with the architecture of this building, just as we did a few years ago, air-conditioning the entire building without the installation of external units" - explains Marco Saccone, managing director of Olimpia Splendid, the Italian manufacturer of home comfort technologies, known for having patented Unico, the heat pump air conditioner without an external unit. "For almost 70 years we have been taking care of the comfort of a home, respecting its surroundings," Saccone continues, "That is why we develop sustainable solutions, both environmentally and architecturally, capable of respecting the beauty of homes and cities. On the occasion of this special year for Brescia and Bergamo, we wanted to add something more to our historic commitment: to contribute to creating beauty, transforming this building into a blank canvas for young artists."

"The LABA Academy of Fine Arts, which among its Schools also has that of Decoration, is always proud to participate in collaborations with the world of industry and innovation, in order to create synergies between the training and educational experience and the productive dimension" - comments Marco Senaldi, artistic director of LABA. "In the case of Olimpia Splendid, a production company that has created a product capable of revolutionising domestic heating/cooling technology, with repercussions on urban aesthetics as well, the participation of our students in the decoration contest on a city building was an opportunity to test what is learned in the classroom and to confront the needs and complexities of the real world".

The Creiamo Bellezza project, born from the collaboration between Olimpia Splendid and the LABA Brescia Fine Arts Academy, has been selected among the 30 best examples of business culture that Confindustria Brescia has been exhibiting since last May inside the Fabbrica del Futuro. The first weekend of October was also marked by Olimpia Splendid's participation in Futura Expo: the Pro Brixia exhibition dedicated to best practices of sustainable economy. Finally, in November, the scale work will be reproduced inside the ticket offices of Brescia's Santa Giulia Museum, to narrate the urban evolution of art.
