70th anniversary of the founding of Olimpia Splendid

The 200th anniversary of the discovery of the Winged Victory of Brescia

The Italian home comfort group is celebrating its 70th anniversary in the year marking the 200th anniversary of the discovery of a work that has become a universal symbol of beauty. A partnership that demonstrates how the pursuit of beauty can stand the test of time.

Olimpia Splendid has been an Italian manufacturer of sustainable climate control technologies since 1956. Bringing comfort to the homes of its customers around the world, whilst respecting the beauty of the environment and the architecture that surrounds us, is the goal that has guided the company throughout its first 70 years and continues to shape its future.

The pursuit of beauty was what set this venture in motion” explains Roberto Saccone, President of Olimpia Splendid. “We chose to invest in design in a sector that, at the time, paid little attention to aesthetics. Over time, this focus has become the very essence of the product, what makes its function possible. The innovations we bring to market not only make the home beautiful, but are often the essential prerequisite for cooling it sustainably. And beauty has taken on further meaning, becoming synonymous with ethics and responsibility. Towards people, the environment, and the market.”

The history of Olimpia Splendid is therefore a testament to how the pursuit of beauty can stand the test of time. A principle that links the company’s anniversary to that of an ancient work of art, still today a universal symbol of beauty, which in 2026 will celebrate the bicentenary of its discovery. The Winged Victory of Brescia is one of the most extraordinary statues from the Roman era, discovered in 1826 in a cavity beneath the Capitoline Hill and now, thanks to the work of the Brescia Museums Foundation, a symbol of the city where Olimpia Splendid’s headquarters are located.

We have decided to celebrate our 70th anniversary by paying tribute to a marvellous work of art such as the Winged Victory, not to celebrate ourselves, but what inspires us. The Winged Victory of Brescia is the symbol of a significant civic virtue that interprets our values in an eternal way. Because above all, it represents the bond we have with this community, from which come the talents that make us what we are today” explains Marco Saccone, CEO of Olimpia Splendid.

For us at Fondazione Brescia Musei, the pursuit of beauty transcends time if that beauty is accompanied by concepts of utility for those who observe it today. And the Winged Victory has never lost that vitality and contemporary edge that still leads to its reinterpretation today. The collaboration with Olimpia Splendid allows us to harness that driving and innovative force that the company embodies today in its field. In this sense, the pursuit of beauty is a search for meaning and function for those who are called upon to observe our Vittoria Alata” concludes Stefano Karadjov, Director of Fondazione Brescia Musei.
